Since our inception, we’ve received numerous questions and in an effort to clear up any confusion, here is a list of some of the FAQ we get (and answers of course):

  • What does Challenge the Storm actually do?
Challenge the Storm LLC is on a mission to support those affected by mental illness – whether yourself or a loved one. With the proper tools, and the proper education, we can progress the social message of encouraging determination in the face of adversity. We have opened a forum to communicate personal stories of overcoming mental illness. We are slowly rolling out more tools and educational resources to be accessible to all who seek support.
  • Where did the name come from?
While flying up the east coast after a long week at work, a thunderstorm appeared in the distance (yes, a real thunderstorm). Alex recognized that he was facing his own thunderstorm, but so was everyone else on the plane. He also recognized that the only way through was to Challenge the Storm.
  • How can I become a writer?
Simple. Send us a message on our Contact Us page, or send me an email directly at alex@challengethestorm.org. I’ll connect with you and we can bring your story to life.
  • How else can I get involved?
Challenge the Storm is always looking for help: writers, contributors, advocates, followers. No contribution is too small. Writing an article, or simply sharing on social media. Every little bit helps. Do your part.
  • Where do I go if I need immediate help?
If you are in need of assistance, call the Suicide Hotline immediately: 1-800-273-8255; or text the crisis text line by texting “HOME” TO 741741; More resources are available on our Resources page.
  • What do I do if I see someone who needs help? Where do I go?
DO NOT ignore a request for help. If a friend or family member reaches out, listen carefully, be sympathetic, don’t downplay what they are going through. Mental illness is no joke. Resources are available on our Resources page for help of all sorts.
